Legendary Duo Lugia and Ho-Oh Are Coming to Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket in Wisdom of Sea and Sky Expansion

<Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is soon releasing a major new expansion: The Wisdom of Sea and Sky. Launching on July 30th, 2025, this expansion brings the legendary duo Lugia and Ho-Oh to mobile as EX cards.

What’s new?

The focus centers on the Johto region. Lugia and Ho-Oh lead the charge, joined by classic favorites like Eeveelutions, Baby Pokémon, and familiar Trainers such as Lyra and Silver.

This set also introduces a revolutionary change to gameplay: for the first time ever, some Pokémon can attack without requiring any Energy. This opens up fresh deck-building possibilities, especially for fast-paced strategies that bypass traditional Energy curves.

The expansion also introduces new mechanics like Energy Switch, Rescue Scarf, and fresh Supporter cards for Lyra and Silver. Meanwhile, the Lugia EX and Ho-Oh EX cards are designed to inspire decks that manage multiple Energy types.

The trade system in Pokémon TCG Pocket is receiving major upgrades

Starting July 30th, 2025 at 06:00 UTC, you’ll be able to create a wishlist to track the cards you’re seeking. You can add up to 20 cards to your list and pin three to your profile.

Trade currency is also being overhauled. Trade tokens are being retired, so they’ll no longer be used for trades. Instead, trading for rare cards rated ♦♦♦, ♦♦♦♦, or ★ will now require a new resource: shinedust.

You can earn shinedust by completing achievements, in-game missions, or by obtaining duplicate cards. Any remaining trade tokens can be exchanged for pack hourglasses or shinedust—up to 60 pack hourglasses per conversion.

Trading will be temporarily paused from July 25th at 06:00 UTC until July 30th at 05:59 UTC while these updates roll out. Once live, the wishlist system and shinedust-based trades will be fully operational.
