Experience the timeless fun of the 29 Card Game (also known as the 28 Card Game, with slight rule variations) wherever and whenever you want. This engaging South Asian trick-taking game features the Jack and Nine as the top-ranking cards in each suit.
Typically, 29 is enjoyed by four players forming fixed partnerships, with partners sitting opposite each other. The game utilizes 32 cards from a standard 52-card deck, divided into eight cards per suit—hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades. The card hierarchy within each suit is as follows: J-9-A-10-K-Q-8-7. The objective is to secure tricks that contain high-value cards.
The point values assigned to the cards are:
This totals to 28 points from the cards. Some variations award an additional point for the last trick, bringing the total to 29 points, which explains the game's name. However, many modern players do not include this last trick point, yet the game retains its name, 29, even when played with only 28 points.
Traditionally, the Twos, Threes, Fours, and Fives, which are removed from the standard deck, serve as trump indicators, with each player receiving a set of these cards in each suit. Meanwhile, the Sixes are used for scoring, with each partnership utilizing one red and one black Six.
