Capcom has subtly hinted at Resident Evil 9 in a recent celebratory video. To mark reaching an impressive 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team released a short video on social media on April 25. The video features Ada Wong conversing with a notorious villain, followed by a scene of Leon surrounded by infected enemies wearing party hats, all heading towards a church.

The video then transitions to a rock song, with Dr. Salvador humorously playing his chainsaw as if it were a guitar, and Leon energetically fist-pumping. In the background, a rustic sign reads "Thank you for playing."

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed something intriguing when the sign is turned on its side: the boards form the Roman numeral "IX," which represents the number 9. While this could be a coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that a lower plank, crucial for forming the numeral, was absent in earlier parts of the video, suggesting it was added deliberately.

"I know what you did here," said one surprised fan, adding a wide-eyed emoji for emphasis.

PlayCapcom has officially announced that the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 9, will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of Resident Evil 7.

"It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]," Nakanishi said at the time. "But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest, though not confirmed, that the game might be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
