Hide Mode: In this mode, the player to the dealer's right selects a card and places it face down on the table. This card determines the trump suit for that round.

Cut Mode: Here, the game begins without a chosen trump suit. If a player cannot follow suit, the card they play becomes the trump for that deal.

Once the trump suit is established, the highest card of the trump suit played to a trick wins it. If no trump cards are played, the highest card of the led suit wins the trick. The winner of each trick leads the next one, and all captured tricks are kept in a face-down pile by the winner.

A partnership that captures three or four of the Tens wins the hand. Capturing all four Tens is known as Mendicot, marking a significant achievement in the game.
