Sarah Michelle Gellar, star of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," has shared a behind-the-scenes video giving fans an early glimpse of herself with Ryan Kiera Armstrong, the new lead of the franchise's Hulu reboot.

The actors symbolize two different generations of Buffy, as Gellar is poised to hand over the slayer mantle to Armstrong—recently seen in "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew"—during the upcoming reboot’s pilot episode.

Posted by Gellar on Instagram, the video captures the pair training together in preparation for the pilot’s production. While Gellar previously posted a screen recording of the call revealing Armstrong’s casting, this marks the first time the two have been seen together in person.

Armstrong will portray a new slayer named Nova, with Gellar set to reprise her role as Buffy in the pilot before transitioning into a recurring role in later episodes—pending Hulu's approval for a full season.

Progress on the series continues steadily, with the cast gathering last month for a pilot script read-through, a writers’ room established for future episodes, and additional casting details announced for the new series’ ensemble.

Other confirmed cast members include Sarah Bock of "Severance" as Gracie, Nova's closest friend, and Faly Rakotohavana as Hugo, a friend who develops a crush on Nova. Jack Cutmore-Scott from "Frasier" will take on the part of Mr. Burke, the school’s new librarian—a nod to Giles from the original series.

If the pilot receives the greenlight, the series is slated to begin full-scale production next spring.

No other returning characters beyond Buffy have been confirmed, but Gellar—who also executive produces the project—has expressed hopes for other original cast members to return. Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase, has already told IGN she would be open to reappearing, citing her character's "unjust" conclusion on the spinoff "Angel."
