David Fincher and Brad Pitt are reportedly teaming up once again to bring to life a sequel to Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. According to The Playlist, this unexpected project is set to be produced for Netflix, marking a continuation of Fincher's successful partnership with the streaming service. The currently untitled sequel will see Brad Pitt reprise his role as the stunt double, Cliff Booth.
The script for this sequel is an evolved version of Tarantino's previously shelved project, The Movie Critic, which was initially considered to be his final film. After its sudden cancellation last year, Tarantino did not want the story to go to waste and entrusted it to Fincher. The Playlist reports that Netflix has acquired the screenplay for $20 million, with plans to allocate a $200 million budget and begin filming in California in July.
While no additional casting details have been confirmed, it is known that Leonardo DiCaprio will not be returning as Rick Dalton. Both Fincher and Pitt are fully committed to this project, setting aside all other endeavors to focus on this sequel.
Deadline has also confirmed the development of the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel, stating that Pitt received Tarantino's blessing to share the script with Fincher, leading to this surprising collaboration.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, released in 2019, is widely regarded as a masterpiece in Tarantino's oeuvre. The upcoming sequel, potentially known as Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 2, has significant expectations to meet, given the original's conclusive and impactful ending. However, the world of the film has been further explored in other media.

This novelization will likely gain additional significance with the release of the sequel, though its exact impact on the new film remains to be seen.
