Just as fans thought the Pokémon TCG landscape was already packed with Destined Rivals and Black Bolt and White Flare, an entirely new series arrives with the Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia sets.

Announced at Japan's Championship tournament (as reported by PokeBeach), the two new sets, starring Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex, mark the trading card game's transition away from its Scarlet and Violet era. The sets launch in Japan on August 1, 2025, with English releases following on September 26 (preorders are reportedly scheduled for September 13).

Rather than continuing the long-running Scarlet and Violet block, the focus now shifts to Mega Evolutions from the upcoming game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia will each contain 63 cards before secret rares, officially launching the new Mega block. Revealed artwork showcased visually stunning full-art Pokémon and item cards, including Rare Candy, Night Stretcher, Bulbasaur, Vulpix, and Inteleon.

Reports indicate both sets will receive a Pokémon Center Mega Set. This offering includes 60 card packs split across two boxes, a decorative card storage box featuring the set’s cover Pokémon, four dividers, a deck box showcasing Acerola or Lillie, and matching character sleeves. This bundle is priced at 12,800 yen (approximately $87), though official U.S. pricing remains unannounced.

A Premium Trainer Box is also set for release in Japan at 6,350 yen (around $47), with U.S. pricing not yet confirmed. This box will contain 20 packs (10 from each set), 51 unique cards, a storage box, a Poison/Burn marker with case, damage counters, and a damage storage box.

As noted in early June by PokeBeach, The Pokémon Company informed tournament organizers that initial allocations for pre-releases will be even more limited than usual, compounding the TCG’s ongoing stock shortage challenges.
