Monster Hunter Wilds' player count has taken a significant hit and is now closely trailing behind Monster Hunter World. Dive in to discover more about the decline in MH Wilds' player engagement and the buzz around its first collaboration.

Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds) burst onto the scene as one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the year, quickly becoming Capcom's fastest-selling title. However, the initial fervor seems to have waned, with the game's concurrent player count plummeting three months post-launch.
Monster Hunter enthusiast and YouTuber Zenny noted that starting in May, MH Wilds' concurrent players halved, bringing its numbers closer to the older, yet still beloved, Monster Hunter World. SteamDB reports that MH Wilds currently has a 24-hour peak of 41,101 players, while MH World stands at 26,479.
In its third month, MH World boasted over 100,000 concurrent players on Steam, significantly outpacing MH Wilds' current figure of around 40,000. The drop is largely attributed to a perceived lack of endgame content in MH Wilds, despite the release of Title Update 1. Fans are hopeful that the upcoming second Title Update this summer will bring fresh monsters, events, and more to reinvigorate the player base.
In an exciting development that could pull players back into the fold, MH Wilds has teased a collaboration with Capcom's iconic fighting game series, Street Fighter. A tweet from Monster Hunter on May 19 showcased a paw mark stylized with Street Fighter 6's urban flair, hinting at what's to come.
Though details are sparse, the collaboration is not unexpected given the history between the two franchises. Monster Hunter World previously featured a crossover with Street Fighter, including Ryu and Sakura armor sets, paid DLC such as Hadoken and Shoryuken gestures, and a Chun-Li costume for the Handler.

This would mark the first collaboration for MH Wilds, stirring excitement among fans about how Capcom will execute this crossover. Monster Hunter has a rich history of collaborations across its series, including partnerships with Devil May Cry and Sonic for MH4, Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem for MH Gen U, and Assassin’s Creed and Megaman for MH World, among others.
With a slew of updates and collaborations on the horizon, many anticipate a resurgence in MH Wilds' player base. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates on Monster Hunter Wilds, be sure to check out our dedicated coverage below!
