Home > News > Pokémon TCG Pocket finally tackles trading in new update, but it\'s not coming until autumn
While the launch of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket sparked excitement among fans, it quickly encountered its first major challenge with the trading feature. Initially, the system was criticized for requiring hard-to-obtain currency and imposing numerous restrictions on who could trade what. However, a recent update aims to address these issues and improve the trading experience.
The first significant change is the complete removal of Trade Tokens. Now, players won't need to exchange cards to acquire the currency necessary for trading. Instead, trading cards of three-diamond, four-diamond, and one-star rarity will require Shinedust, which players can earn by opening booster packs and receiving cards already registered in their Card Dex.
For those who already possess Trade Tokens, there's good news: these can be converted into Shinedust. Since Shinedust is also used to obtain flair, further modifications are planned. An upcoming update will also introduce an in-game function allowing players to share cards they're interested in trading.
As previously discussed, the initial implementation of trading felt somewhat half-hearted. The challenge lies in the digital ecosystem, where more restrictions are necessary to prevent abuse compared to real-life trading. While these changes are a step in the right direction, they won't be implemented until autumn at the earliest, leaving us in spring with a sense of slow progress despite the team's acknowledgment of the issues.
