Old School RuneScape will release a new skill for the first time after its launch in 2013

Sailing is a brand new skill coming to OSRS next month

Explore beyond Gielinor, battle sea monsters, and discover uncharted lands.

The update will launch on November 19th.

Ever wondered what’s beyond Gielinor?

Soon, you’ll find out—Old School RuneScape is setting sail for new waters this November with the arrival of Sailing, a brand new skill. This is a major moment for fans of the MMO, marking the first new skill in over ten years. It’s the kind of update that’ll have veterans pulling out their old capes and preparing for one more journey to level 99.

Begin your adventure at The Pandemonium

A new dock serves as your base between voyages. Here, you’ll claim your ship, upgrade it, and plan your next expedition to distant islands. The race to level 99 is back, and the exclusive Sailing Skill Cape—designed by community member Gentle Tractor—awaits the first player to reach the top.

Chart your course across new islands

Set sail for places like the Great Conch, home to the Troubled Tortugans questline, and use your spyglass to spot hidden locations. At level 30, the intense Barracuda trails challenge your skill and courage. Every shadow beneath the waves might be just a trick of the light—or something far more dangerous.

Combat, crafting, and discovery all come together

Fight krakens, orcas, frost dragons, and gryphons, while salvaging shipwrecks, opening crates, and hunting pirate treasure for your reward. You’ll also brew potions to boost your crew’s strength. What stands out is how seamlessly it all fits into the world—no separate minigame feeling, just immersive adventure.

Sailing launches on November 19th

Available to Old School RuneScape members. And if you’re still craving more worlds to explore, our list of the best RPGs on Android has you covered. But honestly, you might already be too busy mapping the open seas of Gielinor.
