Pokémon TCG Pocket Players Blown Away After Discovering Some Cards Reference Iconic Game Boy Locations

Pokémon TCG Pocket's card art has captivated players, but recently discovered details reveal hidden connections to the original Game Boy games. Reddit user asch_win initiated the investigation, highlighting Spearow's card art. The background subtly depicts Celadon City's Department Store from FireRed and LeafGreen, alongside Route 16, Spearow's Kanto habitat.

This intentional referencing of iconic locations isn't isolated. jteede unearthed further connections, including a Diglett card near Vermillion City and a Haunter card near Lavender Town's tower. asch_win also uncovered location-specific references within Supporter cards.

Many card illustrations feature fantastical settings unrelated to established Pokémon lore. Some cards, like a Pikachu variant, mirror real-world collectible cards. However, others are unique to Pokémon TCG Pocket, making these Easter eggs particularly rewarding to discover.

The community's weekend-long investigation uncovered more hidden gems. A Gyarados full-art card seemingly includes the S.S. Anne, while Oddish, Venonat, and Bellsprout cards collectively depict a scene reminiscent of the seaside Snorlax encounter in FireRed and LeafGreen.

Since its October release, Pokémon TCG Pocket has received one additional booster expansion, Mythical Island, bringing the total to four. Further expansions are anticipated, along with new cards via Wonder Pick Events and updates. As Creatures Inc. and DeNA continue releasing cards spanning generations, players are encouraged to remain vigilant for more hidden references.

Meanwhile, players can participate in the current Wonder Pick event featuring Charmander and Squirtle, and investigate the ongoing debate about the impact of pack selection.
