Fans of *The Last of Us* are in for a thrilling ride with Season 2 on HBO, as showrunner and Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann has revealed that the series will incorporate content that was cut from the original *The Last of Us Part 2* video game. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Druckmann described this content as "pretty brutal," and it will include some of the "Lost Levels" that were partially restored in the PlayStation 5 remaster of the game.
These levels include three early versions of scrapped content: Jackson Party, The Hunt, and Seattle Sewers. The first two offer a more serene experience, with Ellie attending a party in Jackson Party and tracking a bleeding boar in The Hunt. However, the third level, Seattle Sewers, promises the intense horror that fans of both the game and the series expect, as Ellie navigates tunnels filled with monstrous threats.

The inclusion of this intense content is set to keep fans on the edge of their seats, with Druckmann expressing his excitement about the audience's reaction. He also teased the introduction of a "pretty prominent" character, only referenced in the game, similar to the approach taken with Frank in Season 1.
Season 2 will introduce several new faces, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel, among others. Additionally, the enigmatic Catherine O'Hara has joined the cast in a yet-to-be-revealed role, adding to the anticipation.
With the premiere of Episode 1 of Season 2 scheduled for April, fans won't have to wait long to see these mysteries unfold. However, some questions may linger longer, as HBO plans to extend the story of *The Last of Us Part 2* beyond a single season. Unlike Season 1, which covered the entire first game, Season 2 will only adapt part of the sequel's narrative. Co-showrunner Craig Mazin has noted that the second game contains much more story, and while Season 3 isn't officially confirmed, Season 2 is structured with a "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes.
