The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we're talking about Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park is set to return with Season 27, and it seems our favorite crew from Colorado is tackling the current state of affairs in their signature, barely-coping style.
The beloved animated series released a new trailer to announce the upcoming season, but not without a clever twist. The trailer initially tricks viewers into thinking they're getting a dramatic sneak peek at a new drama series. With intense editing and suspenseful music, the ominous vibes are strong... until Randy, Stan’s dad, and his sister Shelley appear on screen. Randy casually asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you," as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.
South Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025. After the initial gag, the trailer shifts back to showcasing intense action, hinting at several significant and topical events for the season. Expect scenes with major plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a P. Diddy appearance, and, unsurprisingly for long-time fans, another war with Canada — a nod to the iconic 1999 film, South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.
The teaser also confirms that the season will debut on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. Since then, the series has treated fans to three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having first aired on Comedy Central to near-instant acclaim back in 1997.
