This month marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the concluding chapter in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Released on May 19, 2005, it was the final Star Wars film directed by George Lucas before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney seven years later.
Fans were well aware that Revenge of the Sith would showcase Anakin Skywalker's transformation into Darth Vader, but a major point of interest was the fate of the other Jedi. The film introduced Order 66, a sinister component of Palpatine's scheme where Clone Troopers, who had previously fought alongside the Jedi during the Clone Wars, were commanded to turn against and eliminate them. Given there were thousands of Jedi at the time, it was plausible that some would escape Palpatine's purge—not just the few who were known to have survived into the Original Trilogy.
Among the several dozen Jedi who survived Order 66 and have been introduced in various canon Star Wars narratives, we've compiled a list ranking the top 10 who left a significant mark. Some of these survivors lived only a short time after the order, while others managed to persist far longer into the timeline. In some cases, their ultimate fate remains undisclosed. Nonetheless, each of these Jedi lived to see another day after Palpatine's decree to "Execute Order 66."
For clarity, our criteria stipulate that these characters must have been part of the Jedi Order prior to Order 66, holding any rank from Padawan to Jedi Master or even as a young Jedi Initiate. This means we exclude Force-users like Maul and his former master, Palpatine, as well as those like Jod Na Nawood, who were never officially inducted into the Jedi Order or set foot in the Jedi Temple, despite receiving some Jedi training.
There was some debate about including Asajj Ventress on this list. She spent over 20 years with Jedi Master Ky Narec on Rattatak, who considered her his Padawan. However, Ventress never visited Coruscant or met with the Jedi Council or any other Jedi before Narec's death. Her subsequent turn to the Dark Side as Count Dooku's apprentice further complicates her status as a Jedi. Therefore, she is recognized as an honorable mention.
