VNeID: Electronic Identification and Authentication Application

The VNeID application, developed by the National Population Data Center under Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security, leverages population data to provide electronic identification and authentication services. This application is designed for individuals residing in or visiting Vietnam.

Key Features and Benefits: VNeID serves as a digital replacement for traditional documents, facilitating citizen identification in the digital realm. It supports the development of a digital citizenship, digital government, and digital society. Users can utilize VNeID for medical reporting and swift domestic travel declarations. Additionally, it aids authorities in tracking secondary COVID-19 infections and promptly notifying the public.

Access Permissions: By using VNeID, users consent to the following access permissions:

1. Internet Access: Allows the application to connect to the internet from the user's device.
2. Camera Access: Enables scanning of the QR code on the Citizen Identification Card (CCCD) to expedite the entry of basic citizen information and facilitate quick scanning for travel and medical declarations.
3. Media and File Access: Permits the storage of QR code images on the device for verification at citizen checkpoints.
4. Notification Permissions: Allows the application to send notifications to the user's device.

Personal Information Collection: Users input data for medical declarations, domestic travel, or on behalf of others with their explicit consent. The collected personal information includes: full name, phone number, citizen identification, gender, year of birth, permanent address, nationality, health status, departure and destination points, vehicle number plate, and exposure to individuals with COVID-19. All information is voluntarily provided through form submissions.

Users are responsible for the accuracy and legality of the information they provide.

Privacy and Copyright Protection: The National Population Data Center, Ministry of Public Security, securely stores and protects user data, using it exclusively for COVID-19 prevention and control efforts. The data will not be used for commercial purposes or to invade privacy. Information may be shared with health authorities and other relevant agencies to enhance disease prevention efforts.

The application developer does not collect or use user data for any purposes other than those stated and will not disclose information that could harm or violate user privacy under Vietnamese law or the application's policies.

Additional Notes:

• No Location Tracking: VNeID does not collect location data.
• Anonymity: Users interact anonymously within the community. Only authorized entities can identify individuals infected or suspected of being infected due to close contact with COVID-19 cases for tracing purposes.
