Fans of the legendary secret agent James Bond were quick to draw conclusions about the identity of the actor portraying the younger version of 007 in the upcoming game *007 First Light*. The game’s latest trailer, unveiled during Sony's State of Play broadcast, introduced a fresh-faced Bond—newly enlisted from the Royal Navy and eager to prove himself as a licensed 00 agent.

Shortly after the trailer aired, speculation on Reddit pointed toward Patrick Gibson, known for his role in *Dexter: New Blood*, as the likely actor behind this new iteration of Bond. Viewers noted a striking resemblance between Gibson and the on-screen character, with many expressing immediate recognition.

"I clocked it THE SECOND I saw the dirty smirk of his," wrote one Bond enthusiast. Another chimed in, "Yeah I peeped that as soon as I seen it." A third fan added, "Watching the trailer and knew the face looked familiar. After about a minute or so I screamed 'DEXTER.' I'm pretty sure it's him."

At 30 years old, Gibson is only slightly older than the 26-year-old Bond depicted in the game, making the casting feel natural. With prior roles in popular series such as *Shadow and Bone*, *The Tudors*, and *The OA*, Gibson has already built an impressive acting portfolio. However, he is best known for playing a younger Dexter Morgan in the prequel series *Dexter: Original Sin*.

Interestingly, IO Interactive, the developer behind *007 First Light*, has not officially confirmed Gibson’s involvement—though IGN has reached out to the studio for comment. As of now, Gibson remains tight-lipped about the rumors.

A recent press release accompanying the trailer describes *007 First Light* as a globe-trotting, story-driven action-adventure title that allows players to approach missions using either stealth and strategy or full-on firepower—classic Bond style.

The trailer also showcased Bond delivering a few deadpan quips while navigating intense situations, highlighting what could be Gibson’s nuanced acting skills at play. His previous experience portraying a morally complex antihero in *Dexter* seems like solid preparation for stepping into the shoes of cinema’s most iconic spy.

Scheduled for release sometime in 2026, *007 First Light* will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you missed the June 2025 State of Play showcase, here's [ttpp] everything announced during the event.
