The Shape, famously known as Michael Myers, was the first licensed Killer introduced to Dead by Daylight. His chilling method of stalking Survivors from a distance and building up his ferocity before striking is what makes him a truly terrifying presence. As players navigate through the trials, The Shape's relentless pursuit can dismantle teams one by one, leaving a trail of fear in his wake.

This comprehensive Dead by Daylight guide aims to equip players with the best builds for The Shape, whether you're new to the game or a seasoned veteran. We'll cover both teachable and non-teachable perks to ensure you can maximize your gameplay experience with this iconic horror character.

Updated on January 13, 2025, by Siddarth Narasimman: Despite being considered one of the weaker Killers, Michael Myers remains a favorite among new players. The recent buffs in Patch 8.4.0 have significantly enhanced his capabilities, making him a more formidable opponent. With these improvements, it's the perfect time to explore the best builds and add-ons for this horror icon.

The Shape: Best Non-Teachable Build (2025)

Mastering The Shape without access to other Killers' perks can be challenging, but this build makes it manageable and effective. Utilizing Save the Best for Last, you can shorten chase times, while Sloppy Butcher slows down the game passively. Bitter Murmur and Hex: No One Escapes Death provide powerful tools to annihilate any remaining Survivors in the endgame, without the need for extensive stalking.

  • Save the Best for Last (The Shape) – Each hit on a non-Obsession Survivor grants a token, up to eight. Each token reduces the basic attack cooldown by 4%, up to a maximum of 32%. Hitting the Obsession removes two tokens.
  • Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk) – Once the final generator is powered, all Survivors are afflicted with the Exposed status, and you gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.
  • Bitter Murmur (General Perk) – Reveals the auras of Survivors within 16 meters of a completed generator for 5 seconds. After the last generator, all Survivors' auras are revealed for 10 seconds.
  • Sloppy Butcher (General Perk) – Inflicts Mangled and Hemorrhage status effects with basic attacks, slowing healing by 25% and causing healing regression if not completed.

The Shape: Best Build (2025)

This build is tailored to slow down generator progress, offering a strategic advantage in the early game where The Shape typically struggles due to limited map mobility. By focusing on controlling a specific area with multiple generators, you can use Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance and Deadlock to disrupt Survivor efforts. Lethal Pursuer helps you locate Survivors quickly for stalking, and Coup de Grâce enhances your ability to navigate loops effectively.

  • Lethal Pursuer (The Nemesis) – At the start of the trial, see the auras of all Survivors for nine seconds. All aura-reading abilities are extended by two seconds.
  • Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist) – Begin with four tokens. Each unique Survivor hooked on a white Scourge Hook consumes a token and causes the generator with the most progress to regress by 25%.
  • Deadlock (The Cenobite) – When a generator is completed, the generator with the highest progress is blocked for 25 seconds and its aura is revealed.
  • Coup de Grâce (The Twins) – Gain two tokens for each generator completed. Use one token to increase the lunge attack distance by 80%.

The Shape: Best Add-Ons (2025)

Memorial Flower

Though not groundbreaking, the Memorial Flower is a solid choice at common rarity. It provides an 11% increase in stalking rate, helping The Shape to reach his full potential more quickly.

Dead Rabbit

While the Dead Rabbit reduces the Terror Radius by 25% in Evil Within II, it increases it in Evil Within III. To counterbalance this, consider pairing it with perks like Monitor and Abuse to manage your Terror Radius effectively.

J. Myers Memorial

J. Myers Memorial is a top-tier add-on, boosting the stalking gain rate by 25%. It pairs well with the Tombstone Piece to mitigate the longer time needed to reach Evil Within III.

Hair Bow

With the Hair Bow, you can increase your threat level during Evil Within III. Combining it with J. Myers Memorial ensures you can maintain pressure on the map with multiple Evil Within III activations.

Tombstone Piece

Considered one of The Shape's most powerful add-ons, the Tombstone Piece allows for an instant kill upon reaching Evil Within III, regardless of the Survivor's hook state. This ability can swiftly change the course of a game, surpassing even the Ultra Rare Judith’s Tombstone due to the absence of a speed penalty.

Lock Of Hair

Lock of Hair extends Evil Within III by 40 seconds and boosts the stalking rate for Evil Within III. While the Hair Bow is typically preferred, Lock of Hair is a strong alternative when paired with Lethal Pursuer and J. Myers Memorial.

Fragrant Tuft of Hair

Though it reduces the stalking rate by 200%, Fragrant Tuft of Hair grants infinite Evil Within III. This means you can insta-down Survivors without the need for stalking, making it a game-changer for your strategy.
