Following the formation of Reburn, a studio comprised of former 4A Games Ukraine employees (creators of the acclaimed Metro series), the original 4A Games has confirmed its continued dedication to the Metro franchise. This reassurance followed Reburn's announcement of their debut project, La Quimera, which sparked speculation about the future of Metro.

In an official statement, 4A Games clarified its relationship with Reburn, offering congratulations on La Quimera while reiterating its commitment to the Metro series. The statement emphasized: "We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games. Our efforts toward the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception."

Beyond the upcoming Metro sequel, 4A Games hinted at development on a new, unannounced IP. The studio highlighted its Ukrainian heritage and diverse team, noting that approximately 150 of its over 200 employees remain based in Kyiv, with additional offices in Sliema, Malta, and remote workers.

4A Games explained the organizational split: "Following the completion of Metro Exodus and its DLC, we collaborated closely with our partners at 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we founded 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, absorbing roughly 50 more colleagues to sustain our momentum. Simultaneously, 4A Games Ukraine embarked on their standalone journey with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn."

Since the 2019 release of Metro Exodus, fan anticipation for a new entry has grown amidst limited updates. While the Enhanced Edition and other additions maintained interest, many eagerly await the next chapter in Dmitry Glukhovsky's post-apocalyptic world. Backed by Embracer Group (formerly THQ Nordic), 4A Games initially hinted at a new Metro title in 2019, suggesting a release in "202X," before becoming silent. It now appears that this wait may soon conclude.
