If there’s one thing fans love more than the original Clueless, it’s the idea of seeing Alicia Silverstone back in Cher Horowitz’s iconic yellow plaid uniform. Reports suggest the beloved actress is set to reprise her legendary role in a sequel series for Peacock, bringing the iconic tale into a new era.
While details about the show remain under wraps, we do know it will pick up where the 1995 film left off, with Silverstone confirmed to return as Cher. This project marks a fresh take compared to the earlier Peacock spin-off plans from 2020.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the creative minds behind Gossip Girl, will collaborate with Jordan Weiss to pen the series. They’ll also serve as executive producers alongside Amy Heckerling, the visionary behind the original film, and Robert Lawrence, who produced the classic movie. CBS Studios and Universal Television are onboard as production partners.
It’s worth noting this isn’t the first time Clueless has graced the small screen. A TV adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, featuring Rachel Blanchard in the lead role. More recently, Silverstone reprised her role in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten, signaling her enthusiasm to dive back into Cher’s world. We couldn’t agree more—it’s about time!
