Alienware is kicking off June with competitive prices on gaming PCs equipped with the RTX 5080. The Alienware Aurora R16 with an RTX 5080 starts at $2,349.99 shipped, offering a solid value for a well-engineered system. This machine features powerful current-generation components, a 240mm AIO liquid cooler, and a smart airflow design that delivers smooth high-frame-rate 4K gaming. Currently, a prebuilt system is the most practical way to get an RTX 5080 without paying a steep premium. Purchasing the GPU alone for a custom build would cost nearly as much as one of these complete desktops.

Dell introduced the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis maintains a familiar profile to the 2024 R16 but features redesigned aesthetics and cooling, along with updated internals. The I/O panel has been moved to the top of the case, and the tempered glass side panel now covers the entire side instead of a smaller window. This change eliminates the side vents, moving primary air intake to the bottom and front of the chassis. Alienware has adopted a positive air pressure design (more intake than exhaust) to help reduce dust buildup inside. The platform has been refreshed with a new motherboard, faster memory, and a more robust power supply to support the latest CPUs and GPUs.
The RTX 5080 is the second-most powerful Blackwell GPU, positioned just below the $2,000 RTX 5090. It delivers roughly a 5%-10% performance increase over the discontinued RTX 4080 Super. In games that support the Blackwell-exclusive DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation, the performance advantage becomes more pronounced.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE Review, by Jacqueline Thomas
"For gamers already using a high-end graphics card from the last two years, upgrading to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 isn't a compelling proposition—its raw performance lead over the RTX 4080 is modest. However, the extra smoothness from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation does enhance visuals in supported titles. For anyone upgrading from an older GPU and seeking a significant performance leap, the RTX 5080 delivers—especially if you appreciate Nvidia's suite of AI features."
