How to Unlock Animals in Assassin's Creed Shadows

Every time Naoe or Yasuke interacts with a new cat or dog breed in Assassin's Creed Shadows, that particular animal becomes available for your Hideout. From protective dogs to playful kittens, numerous companions await discovery - including the stray pup featured in the pre-order mission "Thrown to the Dogs."

Yasuke unlocks additional wildlife through his painting skills. Documenting creatures like rabbits, foxes, tanukis, and monkeys in your sketchbook makes them potential Hideout residents. Villages also offer livestock purchases like oxen and goats for the right price in mon.

How to Add Animals to the Hideout

Enter the Hiroma and locate the workstation to access Hideout modifications. In the customization panel, navigate to the wolf icon tab showcasing your unlocked animals - organized by dogs, cats, and miscellaneous creatures.

After selecting your desired companion, the game transitions to an aerial Hideout view where you can place animals on available spaces. While you choose their initial location, remember they'll wander freely once gameplay resumes.

The system allows multiple placements of most animals (except special story creatures), though total creature count has a limit. You can freely swap out inhabitants through the build menu whenever inspiration strikes.
