Preorder Astro Bot DualSense PS5 Controller

Last year, Sony launched a special Astro Bot-themed DualSense controller for the PS5 that became a massive success. It flew off the shelves before countless fans of the Game of the Year award winner could secure one. Responding to the demand, Sony is preparing to release a new companion piece: the Astro Bot Joyful Limited Edition DualSense PS5 Controller, arriving on October 30. Preorders are already available at major retailers (check Walmart) for $84.99. If you're interested, I'd recommend securing one quickly, as this edition is likely to be just as limited as the last.

This new variant is very similar to its predecessor. However, as the "Joyful" in its name suggests, the eye shapes printed on the touchpad now depict a smiling robot.

It's important to note that, despite appearances in promotional material, the eyes do not animate; they are a static, joyful print on the touchpad surface.

Alongside the controller, Sony is introducing a matching 5TB Astro Bot external hard drive and a controller carrying case that includes an adorable red panda plushie.

Beyond the updated eyes, this Astro Bot controller retains the beloved design of the original, featuring a soft white and metallic blue color scheme that perfectly captures the character's charm.

Astro Bot ranks among my personal favorite PS5 titles. It's an incredibly charming platformer with precise controls that guide you through vibrant, inventive worlds. Each level cleverly introduces new mechanics or power-ups, packed with collectibles that pay homage to PlayStation's rich history. It's a delightful experience.

This controller is a fantastic piece of memorabilia. But a word of caution: if you see the preorder option available, it's wise to act fast. Given the previous model's scarcity, there's no guarantee how long this limited edition will remain in stock.
