Avowed expands on the rich fantasy world of Eora from the Pillars of Eternity series, but when it comes to character creation, your racial options are somewhat limited. Here's a comprehensive guide to the playable races in Avowed.

Humans (Known In-Universe as Folk)

Humans, referred to as Folk in Avowed, are the most common race in the game and the character creator. As part of the broader group known as Kith, which includes various sentient and civilized species, humans are highly customizable. Avowed offers a diverse range of human presets, along with in-depth customization tools. You'll find a variety of facial presets, a skin tone slider, and different hair textures to help you craft a character that resonates with you.

Elves

Elves are another race available for selection in Avowed. They closely resemble humans but are distinguished by slightly different default facial structures and, of course, their iconic long, pointy ears.

Godlikes

A third race option in Avowed is the Godlike. Although all Envoys in the story are Godlike, players can opt to display or hide these unique features. Godlikes come with a variety of distinctive hair and facial features, ranging from subtle to surreal. At launch, there are 14 Godlike facial features and four Godlike hair options available, which apply to all characters irrespective of their race or body type.

What Gender Options are Available in the Avowed Character Creator? Answered

In Avowed, you have four Body Types to choose from: two masculine and two feminine, available for both Humans and Elves. Additionally, you can select from two feminine and two masculine voice options. Players can also set their character’s identifier, which determines the pronouns used for them, with options including he, she, and they.

Several Races Present in Avowed Are Not Playable

Unfortunately, not all Kith races seen in Avowed are playable. While you'll encounter Dwarves, semiaquatic Aumaua, and the half-sized, hairy Orlans in the Living Lands, these races are not options in the character creator. However, Obsidian Entertainment may introduce more race options in future updates or DLC for Avowed.
