Bandai Namco Unveils Digimon Alysion: Digital Card Game

Bandai Namco is taking another exciting swing at bringing the beloved Digimon franchise to mobile devices with the launch of Digimon Alysion. This digital adaptation of the popular Digimon Card Game is set to be released as a free-to-play title on both Android and iOS platforms, though an exact release date remains under wraps.

The announcement came during the much-anticipated Digimon Con 2025, held on March 19th. Alongside this exciting news, Bandai Namco shared updates on other projects, including the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a new arc scheduled for April 2025. They also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime with a special video and announced a new project, Digimon Adventure: Beyond, as well as a new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, which is slated for release on consoles and PC.

Digimon Alysion: A Unique Twist on the Card Game

Unlike a direct port of the physical Digimon Card Game, Digimon Alysion introduces a fresh element with 'DigiAly' cards, designed specifically for this digital version. Alongside these, Bandai Namco is adding new Digimon and characters to the mix. Interestingly, the character lineup on the game's website features a predominantly all-girls cast, which has sparked some curiosity and skepticism among fans expecting a more traditional adaptation of the card game.

This isn't Bandai Namco's first foray into Digimon mobile gaming, but their past attempts have met with mixed results. With two previous failures under their belt, there's understandable hesitation about whether Digimon Alysion will break the cycle. However, the anticipation for this new game remains high, and a closed beta test is on the horizon, though specific details are yet to be disclosed.
