The official Bethesda Twitter/X post didn't explicitly detail what the announcement would entail, but the prominent "IV" and a backdrop reminiscent of iconic Oblivion artwork leave little room for doubt about what's coming.

Rumors of an Oblivion remake have circulated for what feels like ages, with recent weeks seeing these rumors solidify into leaks. The first whisper of a potential remaster came from a leaked 2020 Bethesda release schedule during the FTC vs. Microsoft trial in 2023, which indicated an Oblivion remaster targeted for fiscal year 2022. Although the document's age and missed release window initially suggested a possible cancellation, a fresh leak in January of this year described it as a comprehensive remake, developed by Bethesda with assistance from Virtuos. Last week's leaks from Virtuos' website, featuring images of the remake, further corroborated these reports.
