Treyarch is marking 115 Day with a thrilling mystery box of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, headlined by the unveiling of an exciting new map named The Tomb. This January 15 celebration is a special occasion for Call of Duty enthusiasts, featuring a comprehensive blog detailing all the upcoming zombie-themed surprises. The highlight of today's announcements is The Tomb, a new sandy Zombies map set to debut with Season 2 on January 28. This means fans will have another thrilling addition to the Zombies universe just under two weeks after Season 1's Citadelle des Morts.

According to Treyarch, the story behind The Tomb follows the survivors of Citadelle des Morts—Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya—as they heed Gabriel Krafft’s last words to an excavation site to retrieve the Sentinel Artifact. The map is built atop ancient burial grounds with origins tracing back to 2500 B.C.E., which remained untouched until the early 1900s. The team hinted that what lies beneath these catacombs could be deeper and more mysterious than anyone has anticipated.

Treyarch describes The Tomb as a mysterious locale with connections to a British archeologist, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, though they've kept further details on its integration into the broader Zombies narrative under wraps. In terms of gameplay, The Tomb promises an experience akin to Liberty Falls, offering "tighter play spaces with a focus on replayability" as players uncover numerous Easter eggs.

Treyarch has also teased a reimagined Wonder Weapon "inspired by our past" and the return of a beloved SMG, though specifics remain undisclosed. Season 2 will also bring a host of quality-of-life enhancements, including the ability to track up to 10 Calling Card and 10 Camo challenges across Zombies and Multiplayer. Zombies mode will introduce a co-op pause feature, allowing the party leader to pause the game mid-run. Additionally, HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be separated, and players will have the option to rejoin Zombies matches with their loadout if disconnected.

To celebrate 115 Day, Black Ops 6 players can enjoy double the GobbleGum earn rate and double XP for player, weapon, and battle pass from now until 10am PT on January 21. Treyarch also shared intriguing statistics about the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing that players have invested over 480 million hours into Black Ops 6 Zombies. The studio's goal with Directed Mode was to expand the Zombies community by guiding new players through the Main Quests, and the results are promising, with the average Main Quest completion rate more than doubling from 3.38% on November 14 to 8.23% today.

Fans are eager to hear the voices of the Zombies characters when The Tomb launches. Last month, Activision acknowledged the recasting of some beloved Zombies characters due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
