Camper Waits at San Francisco Nintendo Store for Switch 2 Before Opening

The excitement for the Nintendo Switch 2 is palpable, as evidenced by the dedication of at least one fan who is already camping out at the soon-to-open Nintendo Store in San Francisco. YouTuber Super Cafe documented his journey in a video released on April 8, where he detailed his flight to San Francisco to secure a prime spot for the anticipated console release and the store's opening on May 15.

Having traveled over 800 miles, Super Cafe plans to camp out for the next two months to ensure he's first in line on the West Coast. In his video, he candidly shared, "I've only lived in my apartment for two months. I like, just moved out. Terrible financial decision on my end. Whatever, who cares." His commitment mirrors that of another content creator camping out at the New York store, highlighting a tradition of dedication among Nintendo fans.

Super Cafe is mostly going solo but has invited others interested in camping out for the San Francisco opening to reach out. He plans to address questions about accommodations, food, showers, and other basic needs in a future Q&A.

The practice of camping out for major Nintendo releases, particularly new consoles, has a long history. With campers now stationed at both coastal Nintendo stores, it remains to be seen if this will trigger a wave of similar actions by other enthusiasts. What's clear, however, is the unwavering dedication of these content creators.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025. For those not inclined to camp out, our comprehensive guides on Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders provide valuable information, though ongoing tariffs may complicate the situation for buyers in the United States.
