Civilization 7 delays its initial in-game event to prioritize essential quality-of-life upgrades. Discover details about the upcoming update and future plans for Civilization 7.

Civilization 7 (Civ 7) has postponed its debut in-game event to focus on vital quality-of-life improvements. On February 28, 2025, Firaxis Games shared a Development Roadmap update, outlining key priorities for the next Civ 7 patch.
Update 1.1.0, set for release on March 4, 2025, across PC and consoles (with a separate timeline for Nintendo Switch), was initially slated to include the game’s first event, Natural Wonder Battle. However, Firaxis Games announced, "We’ve shifted the Natural Wonder Battle event to a later update to dedicate more time to refining player experience worldwide. Details on the first in-game event will follow when ready."
Since its early access launch, Civilization 7 has received mixed feedback, particularly regarding its user interface (UI). Firaxis Games acknowledged this, stating, "We’re actively reviewing feedback on the game’s UI." They added, "We’re committed to enhancing Civilization 7 and value your input."

The forthcoming Civ 7 update will address community suggestions. While full patch notes will be released on launch day, Firaxis Games shared highlights of what players can expect.
A new natural wonder, the Bermuda Triangle, will be introduced for free exploration. The update will also include highly requested UI improvements, addressing player concerns. Additionally, the Modern Age’s Cultural Legacy Path and Victory conditions will see significant updates, with AI leaders improved for Cultural Victory pursuits.
Alongside the update, the first half of the paid Crossroads of the World Collection will launch. Firaxis noted, "Players with eligible editions or who purchased the Crossroads of the World Collection separately will automatically receive this content with Update 1.1.0."

Civ 7’s next major update, tentatively scheduled for March 25, 2025, will continue refining the game’s UI. Firaxis emphasized, "Enhancing the User Interface remains a top priority. The March 25 changes are part of a broader plan to improve the UI over the coming months."
Looking ahead, Civilization 7 will introduce features like a "one more turn" option to extend gameplay beyond the Modern Age, auto-explore functionality, new map sizes for PC and consoles (excluding Switch), and enhanced multiplayer support.
Firaxis stated, "We’re working to implement these features as soon as possible, with some potentially arriving by April, though timelines may shift. We’ll share more details as plans solidify. Thank you for your patience."
