According to a report by Deadline, the previously shelved Warner Bros. film Coyote vs. Acme might still see the light of day. Los Angeles-based independent film production and distribution company Ketchup Entertainment is currently engaged in deep negotiations to acquire the movie, which was thought to be entirely scrapped.

While the deal is not yet finalized, a successful negotiation would pave the way for Coyote vs. Acme to hit theaters in 2026. The film, co-written by James Gunn and starring Will Forte and John Cena, was based on Ian Frazier's 1990 New Yorker article of the same name. It was initially slated for a mid-2023 release on Max but was shelved despite having completed filming. Since then, a dedicated campaign to save the movie has been actively pursued.

Ketchup Entertainment has a track record of rescuing films from oblivion, as demonstrated by their recent acquisition of Warner Bros.’ The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie. This film was saved from a similar fate and is set to have a theatrical run in the US, marking it as the first fully animated Looney Tunes movie to receive such a release. IGN's review of The Day the Earth Blew Up described it as a "laugh-out-loud riot."

Ketchup Entertainment's portfolio includes other notable releases such as Hellboy: The Crooked Man and Robert Rodriguez's thriller Hypnotic, which stars Ben Affleck. The company also co-produced Michael Mann’s 2023 Ferrari biopic, showcasing their commitment to diverse and quality cinematic projects.
