The action-packed RPG Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Battle Chronicle (DanChro) will terminate its service in September 2025, two years following its worldwide debut. The directors announced today that the game could no longer deliver a service quality that satisfies player expectations.
Debuting in August 2023, DanChro garnered over one million pre-registrations and surpassed three million downloads. Built on the DanMachi franchise, it combined vibrant 3D combat with character collection, supported by consistent updates. Yet, it joins a growing number of gacha mobile games that have closed despite promising launches.
For its final chapter, DanChro will introduce a Second Anniversary event on July 30th, featuring an exclusive story by series creator Fujino Omori. This marks the game’s last content update. Paid Selas sales will halt post-maintenance on the same day, with the game and customer support closing across all platforms by September’s end.
With giants like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Blue Archive dominating player attention and revenue, games like DanChro struggle to maintain a foothold. Without bold innovation or unique niches, more mid-tier gacha RPGs may face similar closures.
DanChro will permanently shut down on September 29th. Players can use their Selas, join the second anniversary celebrations, and enjoy upcoming events until then. Check the official website for the full event schedule.
