Fortnite's Star Wars season has introduced an exciting new skin, Darth Jar Jar, but it comes with a hefty requirement. To unlock this iconic character from a galaxy far, far away, players must first grind through a staggering 1.28 million XP. Even after reaching this milestone, Darth Jar Jar is still priced at 1500 V-Bucks, approximately $13. This isn't the first time Fortnite has locked skins behind XP thresholds, but such a move is rare, especially for a highly anticipated skin in a condensed season.

With the season set to end on June 7, the window to earn the necessary XP is narrowing. Fans who have already completed their battle pass now face an additional challenge to unlock this unique skin. The community's reaction has been mixed, with many expressing frustration over the XP requirement. One Reddit user shared, "I was so hyped for this skin and was fine with it being behind a pay wall, after all it is just another skin. But this whole locked behind an XP wall is ridiculous. You want me to earn the right to give you money? I immediately closed the game."

Adding to the controversy, Fortnite also released a regular Jar Jar Binks skin without the XP requirement, but it too costs 1500 V-Bucks. For those wanting both versions, along with various accessories, the total could climb to 6,500 V-Bucks, prompting further outcry. "Regular Jar Jar alone is 20 dollars," another fan noted. "If you want both that s\*\*t is 52 entire ass dollars for something that ought to have just been 1 skin with 3 styles."

However, some players have taken a more pragmatic approach, arguing that Jar Jar is merely a cosmetic and not a necessity. One player who managed to earn the XP said, "It wasn't that hard to earn the XP took me around 8/9 hrs. I had no plans on Saturday. I did it in 3 sittings, but all in one day. I played Rocket Racing and Ranked and did Alignment Challenges to farm as much XP as possible. Nothing is making anyone get every item in the Shop you can just pick and choose, and the fact he was just 1500 V-Bucks when Deathstroke was 1,800 V-Bucks I wasn't bothered at all by the price. I was pissed off at first than I realised after a couple hrs that I had over 300,000 XP already."

As Fortnite's Star Wars season continues, the focus shifts to Mandalorian warriors, with a new customizable Mandalorian skin set to be released in the game's Shop. The season will culminate in a live narrative event on June 7, where fans anticipate boarding the Death Star, which has loomed over the game's Island since the season's start.

In other news, Epic Games' ongoing legal battle with Apple intensified earlier this month, resulting in Fortnite being blocked from returning to the iPhone App Store in the US.
