Hideo Kojima unveiled a sweeping new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and confirmed its release date during a presentation at SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas.
Death Stranding 2 will launch on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5. However, players who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Collector’s Edition will gain early access starting June 24.
The extensive 10-minute preview features a blend of cinematic sequences and gameplay footage, highlighting a character who has drawn immediate comparisons to Snake from Kojima's iconic Metal Gear series.
Portrayed by Italian actor Luca Marinelli, the character named Neil is seen donning a signature bandana and leading a squadron of unsettling soldiers while wielding an assault rifle, evoking strong parallels to the legendary Solid Snake.

The trailer further evokes Metal Gear nostalgia with the Magellan Man, a colossal, tar-like entity fused with the DHV Magellan that bears a resemblance to Metal Gear Rex—a 15-inch statue of which is included in the Collector's Edition. The Magellan Man appears to be piloted like a Jaeger from Pacific Rim, engaging in combat against massive, eerie tar creatures.

The Standard Edition of Death Stranding 2 is priced at $69.99. The Collector's Edition costs $229.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition is $79.99. Pre-orders open on March 17.
Continuing the narrative from 2019's Death Stranding, Death Stranding 2 poses the thematic question, 'Should We Have Connected?' Here is the official synopsis:
