Disco Elysium Mobile RPG Launches on Android

The detective RPG, Disco Elysium, is now available on Android in a special mobile edition. Originally launching on PC in 2019, it achieved tremendous success and won numerous awards. Its deep exploration and intricate design are key reasons for its popularity.

Plot Summary

In Disco Elysium, you are a detective in the decaying city of Revachol, a place consumed by grime, conflicting ideologies, and shattered dreams. Your mission is to solve a murder, immersing you in a world rich with dialogue-driven encounters and pivotal character decisions.

A defining game feature is the Thought Cabinet, which changes your detective’s worldview and includes a chorus of internal voices representing different facets of your mind. You'll interrogate suspects, recite drunken poetry during karaoke, and navigate other bizarre situations.

What’s New in the Mobile Version?

The writing remains dense and philosophical, just like the original, as the core story and narrative are unchanged. However, the mobile edition is designed as a true portable adaptation of Disco Elysium.

It plays exclusively in portrait mode, introducing a new swipe-based navigation system that is a significant departure from the PC controls. This can make the experience feel more linear, as areas become locked after you progress. In addition to eliminating scrollbars, it also features shorter text segments and a fixed camera perspective.

Fortunately, the mobile version includes improvements for accessibility. The publisher, Zaum Studio, integrated a 360-degree view system to help players feel more immersed in each environment.

The original voice acting is complemented by new hand-painted visuals in certain scenes, preserving the game's unique artistic style.
