Devolver Digital Sets New Game Release on Same Day as GTA 6

Rockstar Games has officially announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 will hit the shelves on May 26, 2026, sparking excitement across the gaming community. In a playful response to this monumental news, indie game publisher Devolver Digital has cheekily declared its intention to launch a new game on the very same day. Known for their unique and often humorous marketing tactics, Devolver Digital isn't shying away from the challenge posed by what will undoubtedly be the biggest game launch of 2026.

The indie publisher took to X/Twitter with a lighthearted jab, stating, "You can’t escape us. May 26, 2026 it is then." This move underscores Devolver Digital's commitment to their earlier promise of releasing a game coinciding with GTA 6's release date. It's a bold strategy that showcases their willingness to dive headfirst into the frenzy surrounding GTA 6's launch.

Devolver Digital boasts an impressive portfolio filled with smaller-scale yet critically acclaimed titles such as Hotline Miami, Enter the Gungeon, The Messenger, Katana Zero, and Cult of the Lamb. The mystery game set for May 26 could be a sequel or an entirely new project, keeping fans guessing. Before the end of 2025, Devolver Digital plans to release Baby Steps and Stick It to the Stickman, with Enter the Gungeon 2 and Human Fall Flat 2 slated for 2026. However, developer No Brakes Games has already confirmed that Human Fall Flat 2 will not be part of the May 26 showdown.
