Cross-platform play has revolutionized online gaming, uniting the Call of Duty community. However, crossplay isn't without its drawbacks. This guide explains how to disable crossplay in Black Ops 6 and the implications of doing so.
Disabling crossplay in Black Ops 6 presents a trade-off. Many players disable it to level the playing field, believing it creates a fairer experience. Console players, particularly, often want to avoid competing against PC players. This is because PC players utilize mouse and keyboard controls, offering inherent aiming advantages over controllers. Furthermore, PC players may have easier access to mods and cheats, despite Activision's Ricochet Anti-Cheat system. Disabling crossplay theoretically reduces encounters with cheaters.
The downside? Disabling crossplay significantly shrinks the player pool, leading to longer matchmaking times and potentially poorer connections between players.

Disabling crossplay is relatively simple. Locate the "Crossplay" and "Crossplay Communications" toggles within the Account & Network settings. These are usually found near the top of the settings menu. Toggle these settings from "On" to "Off" using the X or A button (depending on your console). This can be done from within Black Ops 6, Warzone, or the main Call of Duty menu. Note that the image shows the setting added to Quick Settings for easier access.
You might find the crossplay setting grayed out and unavailable in certain game modes. Previously, Call of Duty enforced crossplay in modes like Ranked Play, supposedly for fairness. However, this often had the opposite effect. Thankfully, Season 2 of Black Ops 6 allows for crossplay disabling in most modes, giving players more control over their opponents.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is currently available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
