To achieve the best ending in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, completing specific tasks is essential, and one of those key tasks is saving Sam. Knowing exactly where to find Sam and how to rescue him is crucial for those aiming for perfection in the game.
As you near the conclusion of the main quest line, you'll discover that Sam is being held captive at Praguer’s Camp, having been captured by Brabant. Your opportunity to save him arises during the main quest "Reckoning." Infiltrating the camp is necessary, and you have the choice between stealth and a more violent approach.
To move around the camp without arousing suspicion, you'll need a guard's outfit. One way to obtain it is by killing a guard, stealing his outfit, and hiding his body. Alternatively, you might find one more easily by looting the numerous chests scattered throughout the camp. Once you're equipped with the guard's outfit, you can freely explore the camp in search of Sam without being questioned.

Sam is located in the barn on the left side of the camp, beyond the open area with a cooking fire. To reach him, use the ladder on the side of the barn and drop down inside, where you'll encounter Brabant. At this juncture, you have significant choices: you can either kill or spare Brabant. Opting to spare him contributes to achieving the best ending, though the final decision is yours.
After freeing Sam, it's not immediately time to escort him out of the camp. He'll inform you about von Aulitz, who is also being held within the camp. It's advisable to deal with von Aulitz first, then secure a horse, and finally return to Sam to safely extract him. Sam will be safe waiting a bit longer, and this sequence makes the tasks more manageable, as you'll need to carry him to the horse.
Von Aulitz is located in the main part of the camp. With your guard outfit, the guards at his door will allow you entry without hassle. Upon finding him, you'll see that von Aulitz is already dying. He requests a dignified death, which is the most honorable choice to grant him. Alternatively, you can kill him in a less honorable manner or leave him to die slowly. Interestingly, leaving him to die actually contributes to the best ending.
The final steps involve retrieving Sam from the barn where you left him and acquiring a horse. If questioned by a guard about Sam, simply state you're moving a body to avoid suspicion. Proceed to the camp gates, exit, and turn right to follow the perimeter until you reach the stables.
