Dune: Awakening hasn’t fully launched, yet it’s already achieved a remarkable milestone on Steam, nearing 100,000 concurrent players.
Steam’s official data shows that Dune: Awakening reached a peak of 93,634 concurrent players on June 5, despite being available only to "head start" players who purchased the $69.99 Deluxe Edition or the $89.99 Ultimate Edition. The game’s full release is slated for June 10, 2025.
While concurrent player counts aren’t the sole measure of a game’s success, they offer a solid benchmark. This figure excludes players on other platforms, as Dune: Awakening is currently exclusive to Steam, with PS5 and Xbox Series versions planned for later.
Weekends typically see higher player engagement, so Dune: Awakening could surpass this peak before its official release on June 10. Among thousands of Steam titles, it currently ranks 195th for all-time peak concurrent players—an impressive feat for a pre-launch title.
We haven’t reviewed Dune: Awakening yet, but our extended look during the beta left a strong impression. “As a devoted Dune fan, exploring this richly crafted world feels deeply satisfying. Funcom has poured immense effort into the lore and worldbuilding, even while taking creative liberties by setting Awakening in a parallel reality and canon distinct from the books and films,” we noted in IGN’s Dune: Awakening closed beta impressions preview.
“The game’s intricate details significantly enhance gameplay. Without spoiling anything, this meticulous care extends to every facet of the world, from factions to characters, delighting fans of the universe.”
