Engineers to Care for Grogu in New Mandalorian-Themed Millennium Falcon Update - Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars Celebration unveiled thrilling new details about the upcoming *The Mandalorian and Grogu*-themed update for *Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run*, set to launch alongside the new movie. The update introduces Engineers taking care of Grogu and the addition of Coruscant as a visitable planet, joining the likes of Tatooine, Bespin, and Endor in a choose-your-own-adventure-style storyline. This exciting update is scheduled to arrive on May 22, 2026, and while it will take "a different path" from the *The Mandalorian & Grogu* movie, it promises to feature both Din Djarin and Grogu in fresh and engaging ways. The storyline revolves around Hondo Ohnaka uncovering a deal on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and pirates, sparking a high-stakes chase across the galaxy. Guests will collaborate with Mando and Grogu to track down the culprits and claim a bounty, making for a dynamic, galaxy-spanning adventure.

Although full details are yet to be revealed, we know that the role of the Engineer will expand significantly, with Grogu under their care, making for an enriching experience. What could be more exciting than that?

To delve deeper into what's in store, we spoke with Asa Kalama from Walt Disney Imagineering, who offered further insights into the update. "Throughout the mission, we're going to give engineers the chance to actually communicate with Grogu," Kalama explained. "We think it's going to be a lot of fun. There might be moments where Mando has to leave the Razor Crest, and Grogu, left to his own devices, could get a bit playful with the control panel. These fun vignettes and moments where you're communicating with Grogu on the comm are what we're excited about."

Regarding the choose-your-own-adventure aspect, Kalama noted that there will be "a critical moment in your adventure where you're pressed for time and need to make a quick decision about which bounty to pursue. This choice will be the inciting incident that determines your subsequent destinations."
