Event Horizon Prequel "Dark Descent" Finally Arrives

Nearly three decades after its theatrical debut, Paul W.S. Anderson's cult sci-fi horror classic Event Horizon is receiving an official prequel. IDW Publishing has unveiled Event Horizon: Dark Descent, a five-issue comic series that will uncover the chilling events preceding the film and reveal the gruesome fate of the ship's original crew.

Here's IDW's official synopsis for Event Horizon: Dark Descent:

Faithfully embracing the film's hard-R horror roots, EVENT HORIZON: DARK DESCENT #1 (of 5 issues) warps into comic shops this August. Set before the movie's events yet accessible to newcomers, this terrifying tale reveals the final hours of Captain Kilpack and his doomed crew as their vessel traverses unimaginable nightmare dimensions. Witness humanity's last stand against demonic forces commanded by Paimon, the eyeless King of Hell, in this gruesome descent into cosmic horror.

"It's an incredible honor to expand upon such an iconic franchise," writer Christian Ward (Batman: City of Madness) stated. "We're taking bold, blood-soaked creative risks that will permanently alter how fans view the original film."
