At Droid Gamers, we often receive a variety of tech gadgets, but a projector like the Formovie Episode One was a fresh addition to our lineup. Given its capability to stream mobile games onto a larger screen, it caught our attention as a promising piece of technology to explore.

Designed to cater to those on a budget, the Episode One delivers on its promise of affordability, and even exceeds expectations in some areas, despite a few drawbacks. When you unpack the Episode One, you'll find the projector itself, a remote (batteries not included), a power cable, and a manual. While it may not have the substantial feel of more expensive models, its lighter weight of three pounds enhances its portability, making it an easy companion for on-the-go use.

For some users, the limited connectivity options might be a concern, featuring only one USB-A port, one HDMI port, and a single audio jack. However, given the projector's price point, these ports should suffice for most people's needs.

In terms of performance, the Episode One holds its own. With 150 ISO lumens, it doesn't match the brightness of high-end laser projectors, yet it performs admirably in darker environments. Our tests showed it struggled in bright sunlight, but that's to be expected. All films, TV shows, and streamed games we tested were displayed clearly, though optimal viewing required a distance of at least 10 feet from the screen.

The sound quality from the built-in speaker is somewhat tinny, making it functional but not ideal. For a better audio experience, we recommend connecting an external speaker to the Episode One.

The user interface is where the Episode One truly shines among its budget counterparts. Its straightforward setup and ease of use outclass some pricier models we've encountered, making it user-friendly for everyone.

Overall, the Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. While it may not excel in any single area, it offers a reliable all-around performance that should satisfy most casual users. If you're considering taking your first step into the world of projectors, the Episode One is a solid choice.

As an added bonus, purchasing an Episode One projector before May 27th comes with a $15/€15 Netflix gift card. Don't miss out on this offer—click here to learn more.
