Genshin Impact Begins Age Verification for US Users

Attention all Genshin Impact players in the United States: you need to verify your age to continue enjoying MiHoYo's beloved open-world RPG. According to a recent announcement, age verification must be completed by July 18, 2025, to comply with new legal requirements. Missing this deadline could lead to serious consequences, including the permanent deletion of your account, along with your friends list and chat records. Once an account is deleted, you won't receive any further notifications to verify your age, as all access to the account will be lost due to legal restrictions.

You have until July 2025 to get verified, so there's still time to act. However, the specifics of how the age verification process will work remain unclear. It's hoped that it won't be overly complicated, but this step is part of broader efforts to regulate access for younger players to games like Genshin Impact.

Gacha! The term 'gacha' stems from gachapon machines, and much like their real-world counterparts, these in-game systems can be quite lucrative. While savvy players can minimize spending, especially when compared to the era of loot boxes, the gacha system remains a significant aspect of games like Genshin Impact.

This new verification requirement may be welcomed by many players and parents concerned about the safety of younger gamers. However, it could pose a challenge for those who don't play regularly. If you're planning an extended break from Genshin Impact, make sure to log in and verify your age before the deadline.
