There is Still Hope for Gandhi and Other Civilization Leaders

Hope remains for Gandhi's inclusion in Civilization 7, as confirmed in an IGN interview with the game's lead designer, Ed Beach, on February 13, 2025. While Gandhi's return is anticipated, it may be delayed and introduced via DLC.

During the IGN interview, Beach shed light on the exclusion of past civilizations and leaders from Civilization 7. "We haven't forgotten about any of our previous game's characters," Beach stated. "There's a lot of concern about the absence of Great Britain or England, for instance. Why aren't they featured in our game?"

Firaxis Games' decision to omit Britain and India from Civilization 7 stemmed from the need to make tough choices. "With so many popular civilizations to choose from, we always strive to introduce some new and exciting options to our players," Beach elaborated. "As a result, some familiar faces get left out, but we keep the broader picture in mind for when to bring back beloved leaders or civilizations. So, there's still hope for Gandhi."

Given the extensive range of DLCs released for Civilization 6, it's reasonable to expect that Gandhi will eventually join Civilization 7. However, the precise timeline for his reintroduction is currently unknown.
