In the vast world of *Monster Hunter Wilds*, where the thrill of hunting colossal beasts dominates, there's a unique challenge that shifts the focus to the smallest of creatures. If you're aiming to unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star' trophy/achievement, here's your comprehensive guide to achieving it.

The 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' hidden trophy/achievement stands out with its simple yet elusive nature. This achievement can easily slip under the radar if you're not actively seeking it out.

To unlock it, you must capture a unique endemic life form known as the **Sandstar** in the **Windward Plains**. This tiny creature, resembling a desert mouse with a long tail and shimmering fur, can only be found at night in a specific part of the region.

Given that the Windward Plains are often explored during the day in the game's story, you'll need to wait until nightfall. Here are two methods to advance time:

  • Fast Travel – Available early in the game, once you've unlocked different fast travel points in the Windward Plains. Use the interactive map to access the fast travel menu, and travel between points to progress time until nightfall.
  • Rest – This option becomes available after completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content. Use your Guild Points to rest at a base or pop-up camp, and select the desired time (Morning, Daytime, Evening, or Nighttime) and environmental conditions (No Change, Fallow, Plenty, or Inclemency).

The Sandstar is not only small but incredibly fast, making it a challenging target even at full sprint on your Seikret. To increase your chances of capturing it, consider gathering **Screamer Pods** before the chase.

You can obtain Screamer Pods from **Baunos**, small winged monsters with red bodies found in the Windward Plains, particularly around **Area 11** and **Area 13**. These creatures scavenge carcasses, so taking them out will yield the pods you need. While not mandatory, Screamer Pods significantly simplify the capture process.

Once it's night in the Windward Plains, head to the area between Area 11 and Area 13, and keep your eyes peeled for the Sandstar. Upon spotting it, chase it at full speed and, if you have them, prepare your Screamer Pods. When you're close enough, **shoot a Screamer Pod at the Sandstar to stun it**.

Quickly switch to your **Capture Net** (used for fishing as well) and throw it at the stunned Sandstar to capture it. Successfully doing so will unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement and reward you with the **Ribbon Dream: Amber** nameplate for your Hunter Profile.

This guide covers everything you need to know about unlocking the 'I Caught a Shooting Star' trophy/achievement in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and tricks, be sure to explore our other guides, including how to skip cutscenes.
