"Lanterns" promises to be a thrilling detective drama, drawing inspiration from acclaimed series like "True Detective" and "Slow Horses." The plot follows Hal Jordan and John Stewart as they team up to unravel a murder mystery that spirals into an even more sinister enigma. This series is a confirmed part of James Gunn's expansive DC universe, which also includes "Creature Commando" and the upcoming "Superman" and "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" films.

The creative minds behind "Lanterns" include Damon Lindelof, known for his work on "Lost," alongside Chris Mundy and Tom King. James Gunn has teased that the show will adopt a darker, more grounded tone, describing it as "very believable, very real. The kind of things that you would never think that would be the truth about a Green Lanterns television series."

Kyle Chandler, recognized for his role in "Friday Night Lights," brings his experience to the character of an older Hal Jordan. Meanwhile, Aaron Pierre, who made waves with his performance in "Rebel Ridge," steps into the shoes of John Stewart. "Lanterns" is slated to premiere in 2026, aligning with the release of the "Supergirl" movie, promising fans a year filled with superhero action and intrigue.
