League of Legends Back Tracks on Their Unpopular Changes

Hextech Chests Are Coming Back

League of Legends (LoL) is bringing back Hextech Chests after listening to player feedback. On February 27, 2025, Riot Games shared a developer update on their website, outlining upcoming changes alongside a dev video posted on their YouTube channel.

LoL acknowledged that recent updates didn’t resonate with the community, saying, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."

One of the most requested returns was Hextech Chests, which LoL explained, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."

Hextech Chests will return in patch 25.05, where players can earn up to 10 chests and keys per act—8 from the free pass and 2 through the Honor system.

Exalted Morderkaiser Delayed and More Fan Feedback Changes

League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan FeedbackRiot Games announced that the Exalted Mordekaiser skin will be delayed as the team wants to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." The entire Exalted skin line is now delayed, meaning fans won’t see one in every Act this year as originally planned.

In response to further feedback, LoL will "replace one of the non-Prestige rewards with 25 Mythic Essence, given we’ve seen clear feedback that there’s both a lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and that we’ve been doing more champions for each seasonal theme than makes sense."

To improve accessibility, LoL will "lower the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting in patch 25.05," addressing recent community discussions around champion shards and resource availability.

The developers are also reversing their decision on Clash, returning it to a monthly schedule. LoL confirmed, "March’s Clash event will be ARURF, then we’ll run a regular SR Clash in April."

Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Returns

League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan FeedbackLoL is bringing back beloved shop features after hearing player requests. Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium will return this year, with Your Shop launching in patch 25.06 and the Emporium following in 25.07.

Riot Games clarified, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."

With this response, it’s clear Riot Games is committed to listening to players and shaping a game that better serves its community. League of Legends is free-to-play on PC. Check out our League of Legends page for the latest updates.
