NCSoft Scraps Horizon MMORPG "Project H"
NCSoft, a leading South Korean game developer, has reportedly canceled several projects, including a highly anticipated Horizon MMORPG codenamed "H," according to a January 13, 2025 report by MTN, a South Korean news outlet. This decision follows a company-wide "feasibility review," resulting in the termination of multiple games. Another project, codenamed "J," also met the same fate. The status of "Pantera" (or "Raising Lineage") remains uncertain.

The cancellation of "Project H" is further substantiated by the departure of key developers from NCSoft. Remaining team members have reportedly been reassigned to other company projects. The removal of "H" and "J" from NCSoft's organizational chart solidifies the cancellations.
While neither Sony nor NCSoft have officially commented, the future of "Project H" remains unclear. The possibility of another developer picking up the project remains open.

Guerrilla Games' Separate Horizon Online Project Remains Active
Despite the NCSoft cancellation, Guerrilla Games is actively developing a separate Horizon online multiplayer game, referred to as the "Online Project." This project, announced on December 16, 2022, via a Twitter(X) post, promises a fresh cast of characters and a unique visual style.

Recent job postings, including one for a Senior Combat Designer (November 2023) and a Senior Platform Engineer (January 2025), suggest a large-scale project targeting over one million players. The Senior Platform Engineer listing specifically mentions experience with globally distributed systems, hinting at a significant online presence.
Sony and NCSoft's Strategic Partnership
The November 28, 2023 announcement of a strategic partnership between Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and NCSoft adds another layer to the situation. While this collaboration might not directly impact the canceled Horizon MMORPG, it opens doors for future collaborations, potentially bringing Sony titles to mobile platforms.

In summary, while the NCSoft Horizon MMORPG has been canceled, Guerrilla Games' separate online project continues its development, suggesting that the Horizon universe's expansion into the online multiplayer space remains a priority for Sony.
