Josef Fares, the visionary behind Hazelight Studios, recently shed light on their highly anticipated title, Split Fiction, during an interview. Reiterating previous statements, Fares underscored Hazelight's unwavering commitment to a player-first approach, firmly rejecting live-service models and microtransactions. The studio’s independence remains paramount, with no plans for an IPO or acquisition by a larger entity. Fares stated unequivocally, "We're not going public. No microtransactions. We focus solely on delivering great gaming experiences."
In a conversation with MinnMax, Fares revealed that Split Fiction's core narrative clocks in at approximately 12-14 hours, mirroring the playtime of its acclaimed predecessor, It Takes Two. With optional missions and extra content included, players can anticipate a total playtime stretching to 16-17 hours.
While Hazelight is renowned for its exceptional co-op experiences, Fares hinted at the potential for future single-player ventures. He also highlighted that Split Fiction's budget is double that of It Takes Two, yet the studio has deliberately chosen to forgo post-launch DLC, guaranteeing that all features are available from the game's release. Split Fiction launches worldwide on March 6th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
