KEMCO's latest Android release, Novel Rogue, is a captivating pixel-art fantasy JRPG with roguelite elements and card deck-building mechanics. This enchanting adventure plunges players into the magical world of the Ancient Library, where they assume the role of Wright, a young apprentice under the tutelage of Yuisil, the Witch of Portals.
Wright's journey unfolds through four mystical books, each transporting him to a unique and richly detailed world. One book casts him as the ally of a princess knight striving to restore a fallen kingdom, while another plunges him into the enigmatic mysteries of the underworld. Every choice made by the player significantly impacts these worlds, ensuring a dynamic and replayable experience.
Gameplay:
Novel Rogue's core gameplay revolves around a turn-based card battle system, with each of the four books offering a distinct deck-building approach. After each battle, players select three new cards to enhance their deck, crafting a personalized strategy for each world. Strategic elements include a "Change" command to redistribute damage among allies and "Novel Power," which empowers the deck using ink. For a greater challenge, the "Deep Record" mode significantly increases dungeon difficulty.
Beyond combat, players collect treasures to foster relationships with characters, ultimately unlocking a special ending. Aesthetic customization is provided through "Witch Stones," allowing players to change character costumes.
Novel Rogue is free-to-play on the Google Play Store, with a premium version offering 150 bonus Witch Stones and additional benefits such as ad removal.
