The Best LEGO Nintendo Sets for All Ages to Enjoy

LEGO's Nintendo Collaboration: A Retrospective and Look Ahead

LEGO's partnership with Nintendo has yielded some of their most creative and accessible sets. Initially, a clear distinction existed between children's (Super Mario playsets) and adult (iconic replicas) offerings. However, LEGO has since blurred this line, creating more complex kids' sets and whimsical adult sets, reflecting Nintendo's family-friendly brand.

The LEGO Nintendo lineup has expanded beyond Super Mario to include Sonic the Hedgehog, Animal Crossing, and now, Zelda. Here's a closer look at some standout 2025 sets:

The Mighty Bowser (#71411): A massive, impressive Bowser build with a fire-breathing mechanism. (2807 pieces, $269.99)

LEGO Nintendo's Future:

As of January 2025, there are 34 Super Mario, 18 Sonic, 10 Animal Crossing, and 1 Zelda LEGO sets. The Mighty Bowser, marketed as a standalone set, signifies a shift towards designs appealing to both children and adults, focusing on build quality and display value. This marks a departure from the earlier, more rudimentary Super Mario sets, which prioritized gameplay over the building experience itself. LEGO's return to its core strength – the joy of building – suggests a promising future for their Nintendo collaborations.
