LEGO has unveiled its largest Jurassic World set to date: an impressive T-rex skeleton that measures over three feet in length. This stunning set comes complete with minifigures of Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Alan Grant, iconic characters from the original Jurassic Park film, where the skeleton is famously displayed in the visitor center. Priced at $249.99, the set will be available at the LEGO Store starting March 12 for LEGO Insiders (sign up for free here) and March 15 for all other customers.

Release Date: March 15 (March 12 for Insiders)
Price: $249.99
Pieces: 3,145
Ages: 18+
Dimensions: L: 105cm (41.3in) / H: 33cm (12.9in)
This set, comprising 3,145 pieces, is tailored for the 18+ age group, indicating it's more for display than for play. It incorporates advanced building techniques that may challenge younger builders. Understanding the true scale of this set from images alone can be tricky. The inclusion of Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler minifigures helps gauge its size, but rest assured, this skeleton spans over three feet when fully assembled. The skull bears a striking resemblance to the existing LEGO T-rex skull set, which my son has built and thoroughly enjoyed. However, the addition of the full skeleton significantly enhances the overall impact of this new release.

The dinosaur skeleton features articulated joints, allowing for various posing options. You can move the head, open the jaw, and adjust the arms and tail. Like many LEGO movie-themed sets, this one includes hidden Easter eggs for builders to uncover. It also comes with a display stand and an informational plaque detailing the T-rex's diet, habitat, and more.

While LEGO's Jurassic World collection isn't as extensive as its LEGO Star Wars or LEGO Harry Potter lines, it's rapidly expanding. Personally, I'm excited to see more adult-oriented LEGO sets like this T-rex skeleton become part of the lineup in the future.
